5500 Hours Worked.

The Music Consortium has had a long association as our managing Director Spike first worked at this Festival in 2002, when the event was still at Temple Newsam Park. Spike was appointed as Stage Manager of what was then called the Carling Stage (now the Festival Republic Stage), which featured on the bill an up and coming band from Kilmarnock called Biffy Clyro. They both met again after Spike became the Leeds Main Stage Manager when Biffy Clyro headlined Leeds in 2013.

From 2005 onwards Spike started working in the Technical Production department at Leeds and as The Music Consortium has grown so has Spike’s role. Spike currently heads that same Technical Production department and The Music Consortium continues to develop its special relationship with Festival Republic.

“If you’d have told me that I’d still be doing this gig fifteen years after I first walked through the gates I’d have accussed you of been of being slightly mad. If I’m still here in another fifteen years I’ll probably have gone mad. Either way you’ll have to drag me away kicking and screaming. Top event run by top people.”

At this 2016’s Festival Spike was again the Event’s Production Manager and Main Stage Manager and along with an experienced team of Industry professionals, which included John Saxby, Greg Hargreaves, Sam Beecham, Chantel Beaven, Rusty & Hammer, who helped The Music Consortium deliver the show for Festival Republic. The Music Consortium also provided several of the other Stage Managers and all the technical personnel for the production lifts in and out and all the Show Calls across all the stages. The Music Consortium had a core team of 70 people on site over most of the 10 day period of the event, peaking at 130, and they worked a total of 5500 hours to affect delivery of the Technical Production for the Festival 2016.
